THE AMDOW WEB DESIGN PROCESS
Our web design process follows a series of progressive steps:
- Information gathering - What is the name of your business? What do you sell or what service do you provide? What purpose is the website to serve? What infrastructure already exists and what is required? Will you take control of the website after completion of the project? and many other similar questions.
- Setting design parameters - Company logo, corporate colours, number of pages (for this project), types of pages, style of site, particular preferences for font faces and/or colours etc. Once agreed, these design parameters will be documented and form the Requirement Specifications for the project.
- Arranging infrastructure - domain name, email addresses, hosting, maintenance program etc. if required.
- Initial prototype - first design available to see via the Internet - a chance for the customer to give their first reactions. Constructive criticism or suggested improvements are always preferred at this point rather than later in the process.
- Modifications and fine-tuning - the customer's feedback from the prototype is turned into modifications - again available to view via the Internet. Further fine-tuning continues until the customer is satisfied with the product.
- Testing and technical verification - the completed design is tested against various web browsers to ensure optimum availability - HTML & JavaScript coding is verified against international web standards.
- Integration - the design, domain name and hosting are brought together in the finished website.
- Site promotion - however good the website, no-one will see it if they don't know how to find it. The site & domain name are submitted to most of the major search engines and business directories for listing.
- Maintenance program - a good website does not remain the same as the day it first appeared. Regular updating of the content is necessary to keep up with changes within the business and to keep the site fresh. Site promotion needs to continue - new search engines and directories are emerging and the older ones need to be reminded occasionally that your site still exists.
- Site Upgrade - at some later stage you may wish to extend the website by adding further pages, product pictures, directors details, more email addresses etc. We would be more than pleased to quote a special rate for those customers who started their web presence with a site from Amdow Web Design.
We like to get you, the customer, involved at every stage of the process. After all, the site we are designing is to be yours, for promoting your business and you are paying hard earned money for it.
If you already have a website which needs updating, replacing or extending, Amdow Web Design be happy to discuss your requirements with you.
