Why do we need a web site?

It is a simple fact in business that, if you don’t have a web site, three things will happen:

We at Amdow Web Design appreciate that, for a small business, creating a web site can look like a daunting task.
It often transpires that a professionally created web site will cost hundreds or thousands of pounds and, for a new or small business, this is not an expense that is easily swallowed. We would like to provide you with a web site that you can afford. Indeed, how can you afford not to have one.
We know that one of the major requirements of a new business is to find new clients. Advertising can be a very expensive overhead for a the small business but having your own web site can be a very cost effective means of advertising your services or products. Apart from the initial cost of setting up the web site, this form of advertising can be relatively inexpensive in the longer term.
Your web site can provide a means by which potential clients can find out about what you do, read about work that you have done for other people and provide them with the means of contacting you by post, telephone, fax or email.

Reasons (or excuses) for not having a web site

1. My business is too small  to have a web site
A web site will help your business to grow by letting people know that it exists.

2. I work within a small geographical area close to my home
Local people regularly search the Internet to find a local supplier or tradesman.

3. It is too expensive at the moment as I have only just started in business
In setting up your new business you should have budgeted for advertising.
A web site is a form of advertising that is, relatively, the cheapest in the long term.

4. I don’t even use a computer
Even if you do not own a computer yourself, nearly all of your potential clients do. These are the people you should be targeting, through the media that they use. You can always visit your local library or visit a friend with a computer to view your web site on the Internet.

5. It is not a good investment
Some of our clients had similar thoughts before they had their web site. One of them is now getting 70% of his new work through his web site. The Return On Investment (ROI) of a good website is remarkably good.
